Our Story

Built in frustration.
Shipped in 9 days.

FileSwift exists because the tools that were supposed to help kept getting in the way.

It started with a pile of SVG files that needed converting to PDF — a routine task at work that turned into an unexpectedly painful afternoon.

Every online tool either wanted payment upfront, slapped a watermark on the output, capped files at some arbitrary size, or buried the download button under three layers of ads. The ones that were technically free weren't really free at all.

The fallback was Python — write a script, wrestle with dependencies, get inconsistent quality, spend more time debugging than the original task would have taken manually. It worked, but it shouldn't have to be that hard.

"Every online tool either wanted money, watermarked the output, or made you jump through hoops just to download your own file."

That frustration became the brief: build a converter that's actually fast, actually free, and doesn't treat you like a monetisation opportunity. No forced sign-ups to unlock basic features. No sketchy installs on your phone. No ads pretending to be download buttons.

The first working version of FileSwift took 9 days to build. It launched supporting the conversions people actually struggle with — HEIC photos from iPhones that won't open on Windows, PDFs that need to become editable Word docs, SVGs that need to go to print. Since then the list has grown to 61 supported conversion types, with more on the way.

The mission hasn't changed: give people a tool that respects their time, their files, and their privacy.

What FileSwift stands for

Three principles that guide every decision we make.

Speed without compromise

Conversions complete in seconds, not minutes. We built the backend to handle heavy formats — PDFs, spreadsheets, raw images — without making you wait.

Your files are yours

All files are encrypted in transit and permanently deleted from our servers after conversion. We never store, read, or share your data. Full stop.

No friction, no nonsense

No app to install. No account required to get started. No watermarks. No ads disguised as buttons. Just convert your file and get on with your day.
